Compact SUV · what it costs new, what it’s worth used, and who has one near you.

The 2014 Jeep Patriot is a compact suv we track across the used market in Canada. It comes in gas (11.1 L/100 km) and hybrid (9.2 L/100 km) forms, so the main choice is fuel — the hybrid earns its premium back over enough kilometres. A 9-year-old one keeps roughly 13% of a current model's market price — what actually matters over five years of ownership.

Engine
Chrysler Group LLC (Chrysler) is recalling certain model year 2013 Dodge Avenger and Chrysler 200, and model year 2014 Jeep Compass and Patriot vehicles equipped with 2.4L engines. Due to abrasive debris in the balance shaft bearings, these engines may have a loss of engine oil pressure, possibly resulting in an engine stall or engine failure.
